People can join or stop Atlas Direct's insurance coverage completely independently of any other insurance coverage that they may already have. Consequently, it is not necessary to “quit” or “switch from” any other policy in order to get Atlas Direct’s insurance coverage.

If you are considering our plan, please understand, however, that our plan is a limited-benefits insurance product that excludes coverage for a wide variety of medical services and products, including dental, vision, infertility, cosmetic surgeries, and substance abuse treatments. The Atlas Direct insurance plan also excludes primary care, prescription drugs, basic imaging procedures, and lab work, among other things.

Consequently, anyone considering our plan should first and foremost understand that neither Atlas Direct as a whole nor its insurance component by itself is a substitute for a major-medical health insurance plan and that it would be 100% incorrect to believe that dropping a comprehensive major-medical plan in favor of Atlas Direct would provide them with equally extensive coverage. It would not.

Thus, while people are free to apply for Atlas Direct and its insurance coverage at any time, we recommend that any insurance-coverage decision take into account the overall coverage offered by all of the plans under which a person is going to be covered.
