You never have to worry about being “out-of-network” because Atlas Direct’s insurance plan does not define or maintain a provider network.
You're free to obtain covered services from any provider you wish and your Atlas Direct coverage will pay you exactly the same dollar amount no matter where you receive care within the borders of the United States of America.
With respect to medical services received outside the United States:
- The Atlas Direct insurance plan will not pay for medical tourism to other countries.
- The Atlas Direct insurance plan will only cover claims for medical services received outside the United States if they involved injuries or illness that required immediate medical attention and for which treatment could not be delayed until after returning to the United States.
Any and all restrictions and limitations that apply to coverage domestically also apply to coverage abroad.
Please refer to your own coverage documents—including the Certificate of Coverage and Schedule of Benefits—to see the limitations and/or restrictions that will apply in your case regarding what sorts of claims are valid when traveling abroad.
