Yes, your Atlas Direct insurance coverage can be used if you travel often or live part-time in another state. But do keep the following points in mind.

Domestic Travel

With respect to domestic travel, Atlas Direct’s insurance plan will honor claims for covered events no matter where you receive medical treatment within the United States.

Foreign Travel

With respect to medical services received outside the United States:

  • The Atlas Direct insurance plan will not pay for medical tourism to other countries.
  • The Atlas Direct insurance plan will only cover claims for medical services received outside the United States if they involve injuries or illness that require immediate medical attention and for which treatment cannot be delayed until after returning to the United States.

Please refer to your own coverage documents—including the Certificate of Coverage and Schedule of Benefits—to see the limitations and/or restrictions that will apply in your case regarding what sorts of claims are valid when traveling abroad.

Living Part-Time in Another State

If you plan to live part-time in another state, your coverage will remain valid for the entire one-year duration, regardless of where you reside, whether part-time or full-time.

However, if you become a full-time resident of a new state by the end of the year, you would need to reapply for coverage in that state under its version of the Atlas Direct plan.

Keep in mind, though, that Atlas Direct’s insurance plan may not be available in your new state of residence. In that situation, your original coverage issued in your original state would terminate at the end of the coverage year and you would not be able to replace it with Atlas Direct coverage issued in your new state of residence.
